The Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro, through the Provincial Tourism Division, proudly participated in the Department of Science and Technology – MIMAROPA’s Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) held from May 28 to 30, 2025, at the Occidental Mindoro State College Gymnasium in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. With the theme “Changing Lives Through Science,” the event served as a platform to highlight transformative innovations that aim to uplift communities and enhance productivity across the region.

This three-day celebration of science and technology featured a dynamic exhibition of inventions and breakthrough technologies from across MIMAROPA. A series of insightful forums was conducted, focusing on innovations in food processing, agriculture, and other key sectors. These sessions provided valuable learning opportunities for students, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and various stakeholders, who actively engaged in discussions and raised queries related to the technological solutions presented.

Distinguished speakers from scientific and academic communities were invited to deliver keynote addresses and share insights on the vital role of science, technology, and innovation in regional development.

In support of the event’s objective to promote science-driven growth, the Provincial Tourism Office also mounted an interactive booth showcasing the rich tourism industry of Occidental Mindoro. The booth featured promotional materials including brochures and flyers that highlighted the province’s natural and cultural attractions. To encourage engagement, a participatory game was organized for visitors, with souvenir items given as tokens of appreciation.

The Provincial Government’s participation underscores the important link between tourism, science, and innovation. By embracing digital tools, sustainable practices, and community-based innovations, the tourism sector is poised to evolve in ways that are both impactful and inclusive.

In recognition of the unwavering support and contributions to the success of the event, DOST-MIMAROPA awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro and Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano for their commitment to advancing science and technology initiatives in the region.

Through continued collaboration with agencies such as DOST, the Provincial Government reaffirms its dedication to fostering innovation, empowering local communities, and promoting inclusive development across Occidental Mindoro.
