The increasing number of tourist arrivals in Occidental Mindoro is a clear indication of the growing popularity of the province’s tourist destinations. As part of our continuous efforts to transform more potential sites into fully functional tourist attractions, the Provincial Tourism Office remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that contribute to this goal.
One such initiative is the TIEZA-funded project for the development of Gumaer Falls, which has now been completed. The project has been designed to enhance the natural beauty of the falls and provide visitors with a sustainable, accessible, and memorable experience. With the completion of this project, Gumaer Falls is now ready to be opened to the public, offering a unique and scenic destination for tourists.
On March 20, 2025, the official turnover ceremony for the management and operation of Gumaer Falls took place. During this significant event, the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro (PGOM) formally handed over the responsibility of overseeing the site to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mamburao and the Barangay Tangkalan. This transfer of responsibility is a critical step in ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of the site, and it marks a collaborative effort between the provincial government, local government units, and the community.
The turnover ceremony was attended by key Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano, Vice Governor Anecita Diana C. Apigo-Tayag, Mayor Angelina F. Tria, Councilor Mrites Pantoja Evangelista, Department Heads/Representatives of PGOM, staff from LGU Mamburao, and the officials from Barangay Tangkalan.
The Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro looks forward to seeing the positive impact of this project on the local economy and the well-being of the people of Mamburao and Barangay Tangkalan, and is committed to ensuring the sustainable growth of tourism in the region.
